Questions? You're in the right place.
Honest answers about therapy, EMDR, fees, and what working together looks like.
Will I have to talk about everything that happened to me?
No. This is the question I hear most, and the answer surprises people — especially with EMDR, you don't need to narrate every detail. We'll go at a pace that feels manageable, and you stay in control of what we touch and when.
What if I get overwhelmed or can't stop crying?
Then we slow down. Before we go anywhere near the hard stuff, you'll have concrete tools to steady yourself. Part of my job is making sure you leave each session feeling okay — not raw.
How does EMDR actually work?
In plain terms: when something overwhelming happens, your brain can get stuck mid-processing — the memory stays "live" instead of becoming a normal memory. EMDR uses guided eye movements or tapping to help your brain finish the job. It's recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for PTSD.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're carrying and what you want to change. Some people notice shifts within a few EMDR sessions; deeper patterns take longer. We'll talk about it honestly in your free consultation — I won't sell you a package you don't need.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
For most people and most issues, yes — including EMDR. I offer video and phone sessions across BC, and in-person sessions at my White Rock office. The free consultation is by phone either way.
What's the difference between individual counselling and EMDR?
Individual counselling is talk-based: we slow things down, understand patterns, and work through what's keeping you stuck. EMDR is a specific, structured method for processing experiences that still feel present in your body, emotions, or reactions. Many clients do both.
How much does it cost?
Individual counselling: $165 for 50 minutes (in-person, video, or phone). EMDR: $165 for 50 minutes (in-person or video). Couples: $175 for 50 minutes or $250 for 80 minutes — new couples start with the 80-minute session. Family: $165 for 60 minutes. Payment by credit card, debit, or e-transfer, with receipts provided.
What is your cancellation policy?
24 hours' notice, or the full session fee applies. Life happens — just let me know as soon as you can.
Where are you located?
Suite 204 – 1522 Finlay St, White Rock, BC. I also work by video and phone with clients anywhere in British Columbia.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes — with the standard legal exceptions (risk of serious harm to yourself or others, child protection concerns, or a court order). I'll explain all of this clearly in our first session.
I'm a man who's never done therapy. Is this for me?
Yes. A lot of my clients didn't grow up in homes where talking about emotions was normal. You don't need the right words or a clear explanation of what's wrong. We start where you are.
